A PROPOSED wind farm near Old Leighlin will go straight to An Bord Pleanála to seek planning permission following a recent decision.

The seven-turbine wind farm, which spans the townlands of Ridge, Knocknabranagh, Knockbaun and Baunreagh in Co Carlow and Coolcullen in Co Kilkenny, has been deemed a strategic infrastructure project by the An Bord Pleanála. The development, billed as the White Hill Wind Farm, would have a tip height of 185 metres with a combined output of just over 50 megawatts.

The developer, White Hill Wind Ltd, will now not have to seek planning permission from Carlow County Council but will lodge an application directly with An Bord Pleanála.
