CARLOW called on the nation to ‘follow the yellow brick road’ last Friday night and almost two million viewers did exactly that!
The children from Spotlight Stage School stormed the Late Late Toy Show, earning huge praise for their brilliant performances in the opening, pre-recorded segments and the uplifting finale!
The children thoroughly embraced the Wizard of Oz theme with everything from the Lion, the Tinman, the Good Witch, The Wicked Witch, Dorothy, the Munchkins, Emerald City villagers and the unforgettable Lollipop Guild all played by Carlow children.
Stuart O’Connor of Spotlight Stage School is the performance producer for the Late Late Toy Show with responsibility for all the performances on the night.
The Spotlight children had been very busy in rehearsals for weeks to ensure an absolutely perfect opening to the biggest TV night of the year, absolutely loving their time working with Ryan Tubridy and the huge team of RTÉ staff who work on the Toy Show.
The Spotlight children also featured in all national newspapers, while all weekend social media lit up with praise for Carlow’s superstar kids!
Yesterday (Monday), Ryan praised and thanked everyone involved who made Friday night so special: “It takes a village (and a Munchkinland). Thank you to the tremendous team behind the scenes for making magic. Thanks to all the children for making the country smile and laugh and cry. And thank you for watching the madness. Next stop … Christmas.”
