On Thursday the 7th of July 2022, it will be the 100th birthday of Corona North. As part of the celebration, free guided tours will be given on her life and legacy to the nation.
She was called after Rhododendron Corona, which was in flower the day she was born. This was her fathers favourite Rhododendron.
Corona worked tirelessly to make Altamont one of the best gardens in Ireland, from the time of her fathers death in 1943, with her mother Isobella & sister Diana, until her own death in 1999, when she left the entire estate to the nation under the the care of the Office of Public Works.
Free guided tours will be available but must be booked in advance for the 7th July 2022 at 10,30am, 11.30am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm, 2.30pm. 3.30pm 4.30pm.
