E-scooters are legal on Irish roads, but strict rules apply. Make sure you’re riding safely and legally:
Minimum Age: Riders must be 16 or older.
Speed Limit: Maximum 20 km/h.
Size Limits: No more than 400 watts or 25 kg in weight.
Where to Ride: Permitted on roads, bus lanes, and cycle lanes—not on footpaths or pedestrian zones.
Solo Use Only: No passengers or carrying goods.
Safety Gear: Must be fitted with lights, reflectors, brakes, and a bell or audible warning.
No Distractions: No phones or headphones while riding.
If you’re under 16, Gardaí may confiscate your e-scooter on the spot.
