Bulky Waste Drop-Off opportunity for Carlow Households at Powerstown Civic Amenity Site.
Carlow County Council is delighted to announce a Bulky Waste Drop-Off event taking place from Monday, 19th August to Friday, 23rd August 2025 at Powerstown Civic Amenity Site, Kilkenny Road, Carlow (Eircode: R93 RF22) during normal opening hours.
Please note: This offer is strictly for householders only. Commercial customers will be
charged usual rates.
This initiative offers householders a convenient and affordable opportunity to responsibly dispose of large, unwanted items.
For a flat fee of €5 per vehicle, residents can drop off a range of bulky household and garden items, including:
Household Furniture
 Sofas and armchairs
 Bed frames ( excluding mattresses and bedding)
 Wardrobes, dressers, and chests of drawers
 Dining tables and chairs
 Coffee tables and shelving units
Garden Items
 Garden furniture (e.g., benches, loungers)
 Broken wheelbarrows
 Large plant pots or containers
 Old garden tools (non-electrical)
Oversized toys and play equipment
 Large plastic playhouses or slides
 Ride-on toys (e.g., tricycles, scooters)
 Toy storage units
 Outdoor play equipment
Location: Powerstown Civic Amenity Site, Kilkenny Road, Carlow (R93 RF22)
Dates: Monday 19th – Friday 23rd August 2025
Time: During normal site opening hours.
Tuesday Friday 8.30am -4pm Saturday 8.30am -12.30pm
The last vehicles will be admitted up to 15.40 (Tue-Fri) and 12.15 (Sat).
Cost: €5 per vehicle
Eligibility: Open to householders only (not available to commercial customers)
This event is part of Carlow County Council’s ongoing commitment to promoting sustainable waste management and reducing illegal dumping and is supported by the Southern Regional Waste Office under the National Anti-Dumping Initiative
By diverting bulky waste from illegal dumping and unregulated collectors, the Council aims to:
 Reduce environmental harm
 Support the circular economy by ensuring proper recycling and recovery of
materials
 Protect communities from the risks associated with illegal waste collection
