Following in the footsteps of Saint Columbanus, “The Columban Way” walk is a pilgrim and spiritual trail which follows his journey taken during the 5th and early 6th century from his home parish of Myshall, in the foothills of the Blackstairs Mountains, to begin religious studies in Fermanagh and Bangor, County Down. At the age of 48, Columbanus travelled to Europe founding monasteries along the way in France, Germany, Austria, before eventually settling in Bobbio, Italy where he was laid to rest in 615 AD.
The walk starts with 10.00am registration in Myshall, Co. Carlow and walkers are transferred to the starting point at Bunclody. This wonderful walk takes a scenic route along quiet country roads and through the forests of the Blackstairs mountains to the Nine Stones viewing point at Mount Leinster where it continue onwards over the hills to his home parish of Myshall located in the foothills of the Blackstairs Mountains where the day finishes.

Bus transfer from walk finishing point in Myshall to starting point in Bunclody
